I''m trying to figure out how loans work if you are going to vet school abroad. Do I need to apply for Stafford, graduate plus, etc., through a bank? Or does the school help me out with this? There seems to be painfully little information on the web about this.

For most schools, you'll fill out the FAFSA. From that point on, though, it depends on the school. I know the procedure at my school (Massey) is different than it is for colleges in the US. We apply for Staffords and GradPLUS loans through banks. It's definitely worth a call to your school's financial aid people.

I've been in touch with the Fin Aid person at Glasgow for a while now, and she told me that all we're allowed to get is Stafford, Grad Plus and private loans.

We're supposed to send in our FAFSA...and then the school will tell you what loans you qualify for. I know we have to find a lender too.

Just talk to the FinAid person at your school...I'm sure they're willing to help you with any questions you may have.
