HI GUYS,
i JUST GOT ACCEPTED INTO NYU DENTAL SCHOOL AND I WAS LOOKING AT THE AMOUNT OF LOANS I WILL NEED TO TAKE, AS WELL AS THE NUMBER OF YEARS IT WILL TAKE ME TO REIMBURSE IT... WENT ONTO ALL THOS COMPLICATED CALCULATION THAT MADE ME DOUBT ABOUT GOING TO DENTAL SCHOOL

SO DID ANY BODY WHO GRADUATED FROM A +50K/YEAR SCHOOL CAN TELL ME:

1- HOW MUCH DO YOU MAKE RIGHT OUT OF SCHOOL? (AFTER TAX)
2- WHAT IS YOUR LOAN REPAYMENT PLAN (HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY/MONTH)
3- HOW MUCH DID YOUR LOANS COST YOU AT THE END (INTEREST)

HPSP means no loans. Pick a branch of the military. Four year commitment, never a loan payment, guaranteed job. Alternatively, pay off the loans or don't be a dentist. These are pretty much the alternatives short of lotto or dope dealing. Budgetting paychecks for a job you don't have seems like bad decisionmaking.

become a us citizen by enlisting in the us army or marine corps for three years. after this you will qualify for hpsp. alternatively- marry rich, buy lotto, or beg/borrow/steal.

Where i come from dental school is free, so when my parents heard about the tuition they almost got a heart attack....
So what i repplied was: have you ever seen a starving dentist in new york???

anyway, i think i'm confused, i thaught HPSP was the army thing... Isn' it? If not what does it stands for?

free dental school in france but it is a BSD and you cannot practice in the us with this degree without further training. if you want to practice in the us then you'll need training in the us, which is even more competitive for foreign students to gain acceptance into-then add the complication of payment. Beg, borrow,steal, or pay cash. naturalize/enlist then HPSP(military scholarship for dental school). it sounds harsh but those are the options. scholarships are also available-good luck identifying and winning one. the last private scholarship i saw was on www.dmdstudent.com.
