This is REALLY going to vary from school to school... I go to a state school and I think most of my classmates are looking at around $100K in loans for the 4 year program.

If yo daddy's rich, you don't need need to bitch.
If yo daddy's po', you'll owe $100k or mo'.

I'll owe about $75k and the wife will owe about the same. That's being thrifty. I mean, hell, I bought my trailer for $13,000.

Just 75K? Thats peanuts.....I'll easily owe double that.

ya 100k probably sounds like the avg.. i guess thats ok..

$85,000 - $90,000

😱 I just took out my first loan for the first year.... $40,000. Times that by 4 and do the math. 😳

I go to an in-state school on the east coast. Total cost will be $26,000 this year. This is for tuiton and housing. Does not include food, books, or other random costs. So for this year, I should take a loan for $30,000. Since tuition increases each year and cost of living increases each year, the total amount of loans I expect upon graduation is $140,000.

For all the pre-pharms or upcoming P1 students, you need to know that most pharm students do NOT get grants. Also, most scholarships are for continuing pharm students not for 1st year. I did not know this so I am still staring at the school bill. :scared:

so from the second year theres a greater chance to get scholarships???

Yep, $200K. I'm taking out tuition plus living expenses - the entire offered. I have to be able to pay my mortgage without working as many hours!

I've taken out the minimum (sub) and will only be $15k in debt after my 3rd year. But then again I get scholarships, grants and work about 15-25 hours a week during pharmacy school.

i just took out $50,000 for my first year alone... I am paying out-of-state tuition and quit my tech job (for the time being).

😱'

Hopefully next year will be only half of that. 🙂

I had 40,000 from undergrad which was private loans b/c no one wanted to give me money, so that accrued interest (10,000) during pharm school.

Then 85k during pharm school

So I ended up with 135k
seems to be about the norm
and I was in state for pharm school

I don't know anyone who got grants??!!! Who scored that and how???

private school...120K

Im at like 78k in loans. They are all federal so the rate is decent. I went to state school and paid in-state.

I wish all of my loans were federal! The dean of my pharmacy school thinks it's a good idea for P1 and P2 students to be considered undergrad. Since we only need two years of pre-reqs, they can technically consider the first two years of pharmacy school undergrad. This decision is suppose to benefit the students who are eligible for pale grants. I lost mine my junior year of college and I have a bachelor's, so it adversely affects me! 😡
Therefore, I have to take out another private loan this year. Next year, thank god, I can start the $18,000/year federal stafford loans.

In-state, $50,000. I had some scholarships, too... but I travelled a lot during summers and for my rotations, paid off my car with the school loan money and saved up for the "starving fellow" year (and hell, the move was expensive... and my rent is more than half of my take-home fellowship stipend, after taxes/401k/insurance are taken out...)

I took out 40,000 for my first year and that's just covering tuition. I will have to work to buy books, pay for transportation and other expenses. Thank God I live at home for now and don't have to pay for room and board.

Already 85K down. Another 85K in the next 4 years. Oh those numbers are giving a headaches.🙁
