If a US citizen gets into a US dental school will that person definitely be able to get loans to cover 100% of the cost of school and living expenses? Has anyone ever been accepted to dental school but could not attend/finish because they couldn't get approved for enough loans to pay for it?

I've heard that professional school students have no trouble getting loans, since the lending companies know what their earning potential will be when they graduate. If you don't qualify for need-based loans, there are always private (credit-based) loans.

Getting in is the hard part...

Good to know. I was just wondering about this in this economy and what if the person doesn't have a co-signer. Thanks.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to assume that everyone will be able to land loans, even with the private sector. The economy is in a state that banks haven't seen in a long time, and I have heard that they've cut back on student loans (although it may be limited to undergrad student loans). I would think that students attending professional schooling would be able to receive loans, but I'm not sure if it can be assumed

When I attended some financial aid talks at American schools, the talks were generally split into two sections: 1) for those who are american citizens and 2) those who are international.
I think I understood most of the talk re American citizens. It seemed like if you have good credit (no credit is better than bad credit) and have never declared bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan, then you can get all the money you need by using a combination of Grad Plus and Stafford Loans... One of them is like unlimited and you can keep taking out money. it sounded like american citizens would never need to resort to private bank loans.

It was a much grimmer picture for international students. Nowhere near as comfortable.
