  1. Pre-Dental
Hello ladies and dents, I have been seeing this and would like to know what the reasoning is behind it. I have been seeing that dentists want to set up shop in rural areas and medical doctors want to set up shop in very urban locations. Does this have any truth behind it and if so why?

Can a mod please move this to practicing dentists, meant to post it there!

Lucrative can mean different things to different people

Some might view a lucrative practice as one that does a large amount of cosmetic orientated work, whereas others might look at a practice that does more endodontics and oral surgery as lucrative.

Other might just think a lucrative practice is the practice that nets a large amount of money after all the bills are paid

And still others might look at a lucrative practice as one in a smaller area with little competition and rarely any after hours calls

It's all about what one considers "lucrative" because all of those types of practices exist, and their owners all probably consider them to be lucrative, whereas others might not want anything to do with that type of practice

Anywhere with a greater than 2000:1 patient to dentist ratio, with consideration to demographics (median age, income, etc).

Did AFTCO stop publishing the dentist/pop ratio by zipcode database? That was a neat little tool... 🙁

dont know but I didnt necessarily find it reliable/accurate, a walk down a street in San Diego contradicted the claims of the dentist/pop ratio by zipcode.
