What are some demographics that help determine whether a certain town or city would be good to practice dentistry?

You may want to refine that down into what type of dentistry you're wanting to do. One thing that helps is looking at major employers in an area. Hospitals, schools, and large industries will offer dental plans to their employees, and that provides a built in patient pool if you're looking to start your own practice rather than join as an associate. You're beholden to that $1,500 benefits cap and subject to whatever reimbursement rates that policy has though.
