Well. This thread does not really apply to me since all the schools I applied to share a common tuition rate. So, it comes down to location and reputation. However, reputation of all the 3 Texas schools seem to be very good. Location doesn't really factor in because Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are all great places to live!! What to do!!??

*pulls hair*

I think location and tuition are the two biggest factors. I live very close to Loma Linda, but tuition and fees will cost you close to 40k a year there. Do I really want to spend that kind of money? Then again, is it worth saving a couple thou a year and only see mine and my wifes family once a year? I'm not sure, but I might lean towards forking out the money because I'll be more available for any family assistance if I'm closer to home, whereas if I'm in Boston or NY assistance won't be so readily available.

oh yeah, just for information purposes:

I am the lone "I don't care" voter as of November 12th...

i'll go anywhere

busupshot,

Your statement makes me suspect you have not interviewed yet.

I am pretty sure your thoughts will change once you interview.

It's way too premature for me but for now I am saying location but then again given my stats I am at the mercy of whoever takes me eventually. Not that I would vote.

your suspicion is correct... and i don't plan on getting one for a while (i didn't even apply this round).

as for me changing my mind: no.

the only way i would be picky is the obvious: if i get into more than one school. i don't mind traveling cross-country to pursue my dream...

forgive me for not knowing, but i have no idea who this "Dr. Polins of BU" is. nor am i aware of his knowledge to depict the truth of the matter. and how does HE define the "average applicant?"

Sorry, let me re-word it. The average number of acceptances received by applicants is 3. Meaning, most applicants will have to choose between a several schools.

FYI, Dr. Polins is a endo professor at BU and also an adcom.

I live closest to Loma Linda too. Although they are more expesive than a lot of schools, it would probably be my 1st choice. When it comes down to it, I think I'll be making enough money to pay all my loans back. 20-30 years from now, it won't really matter to me, I'll have more than enough money.
