Do you need to log a prescription pseudoephedrine like a BTC pseudoephedrine sale?

I'm thinking there are 2 options:

1. Treat it like a regular control prescription and not log the pseudo sale in the pseudo log book. The DEA should be able to get all the necessary patient info through the pharmacy computer records and the prescribing doctor is more liable. I would also think that if a family member is picking up the prescription, you could treat it like a control and get the ID info when the prescription is picked up.

2. Treat it like a regular control prescription and log the pseudoephedrine sale in the pseudo log book with all the other BTC sales.

What are your thoughts?

It's the first option, as that's currently only way a patient can bypass the day/week/month limit of getting pseudoephedrine

Yes, the logging only applies to OTC sales. With a prescription, the pt can legally get more than the OTC limit.

Since we're on the topic of PSE, are we allowed to accept ID's from another country (not a passport) when selling it OTC? Like an ID from Mexico?

Thanks for the input everyone.

Nope, they need a passport, US driver's license, military (US) or state ID..or that's how it is for Cali

This might be a state thing. In my state, which has an electronic database we can accept ID's from Mexico or Canada. The state's database only has an input code for Mexico or Canada, so I'm not sure about other countries.
