Loma Linda Acceptance thread, what to do next?

I would like to congratulate everyone who got accepted like myself at LLU.

Right now things seem to be not going as fast as they should, LLU has a very slow central mail system!

First step---> Send a deposit of 1000$ US to the dental admissions

Second step---> they will send you the package (no one I know got it so far)

Third step---> proof of funds, they are supposed to include in the package a special paper which we are supposed to fill with some sort of affidavit. This paper proves that we have enough funds for one year.

Forth Step---> We will receive the i-20 form from the international student office as soon as they get the proof of funds.



Anyone got past step#1?

I too got into llu. I got a email from international office where the forms you mention in (3) are there which includes a form of certificate of finances which you need to send them for issuing your I-20.

There is a mystery here!

I got accepted right away, the letter of acceptance was signed by the dean on the 5th of November, but it was postmarked on the 17th, and I received it on the 23rd!

I guess it is mainly because of their poor internal mail delivery system. I have mailed them the deposit 11 days ago using overnight service, and they still didn't get it yet at the dental admissions 😴

30 days upon receiving the letter.

have a 3yr old son ....was busy raising him..
want to get back to my career ..

do u think retaking part 1 would give me chance for llu as my husband cannot move from this place..its closest to us ..with the kid .
i just want to focus on llu
ur advise is very valuable for me

You might have a chance, it really depends on your clinical and part1, toefl, GPA, and partially part2

If you have taken the exams prior to 2003, you are still eligible to take the Restorative Technique Exam (Bench Exam), and the part 4 Regional Clinical Board Exam in the state of Ca, unless if I am mistaken. Please correct me, if I am wrong.

Congrats Hamchungh... wellcome to LLU IDP 2010 class!

I suggest you go in person to the dental admissions office or let someone you know go there if they are nearby!

Sending the deposit will take at least 15 days to reach them even if sent by overnight mail.

As of where I stand myself:

23rd of November Acceptance letter (dated and signed on the 5th !!!)

November I paid the deposit. (it took 15 days of waiting till they finally got it)

December I got an email containing the SOF (statement of funds)

January It took me like almost 45 days till I was finally able to obtain a loan...

January I sent the filled SOF along with a statement form the bank regarding my loan to a dear friend of mine in L.A, he was generous enough to drive all the way to the the school (address written on the SOF... no confusion). I decided this could be much better than waiting for their internal snail mail delivery system.

January In 24 hours my I-20 was sent to me via Fedex priority mail, and I booked an embassy interview later on...

January then finally the embassy interview, I was put on administrative review which might take 4 weeks in average.

And Voila!

Present I am waiting for the visa, doing fun stuff like playing my guitar...etc

All accepted people, never feel shy messaging me, looking forward seeing you all soon~

Since you sent a check, it is a very simple matter, I know someone who sent 2 checks and I believe they had one canceled after speaking to the dental admissions. How did you send it? overnight mail?
As I said, if you are in need of a student visa and you know it will take time to get it, then give them everything they want in person!!!! yes! as awkward as it may sound...
I was frustrated with waiting when I sent my deposit and I decided not to wait when I sent my SOF.

Regarding the loan, my loan took 45 days because I was depending on a cosigner who didn't provide all information in time, so I switched cosigners!
Usually the bank loan takes 2-5 days to get signed and all if your cosigner shows up in the requested time with everything needed.

What are the chances of getting admission in LLU.

Coulld you please tell me how much time did they they take to call u for interview after applying.

If I apply now in Feb , will they l call me for interview before june becoz I am planning to go India at that time.

I say go with whatever is available! Let the first fish you catch be your dinner!... don't wait for the bigger fish to fry... wrong policy because time=money!

Your LLU interviews will be on September and October... and there are no guarantees!
