So I've heard that Loma Linda makes you sign a contract if you get accepted to adhere to a no drugs, no smoking, no alcohol, no premarital sex lifestyle...is this true? Is that the wording, more or less? Of course, I can see how this is expected on campus considering its a SDA school, but if I say go home for winter break, I can't go to party and drink?

I don't get it...I'm Catholic and take wine at communion every week...is that not allowed by them?

So conflicted about applying to this school right now...I don't like the idea of signing a contract at all...my sins are between me and God...although, I more or less live by their rules already, this contract thing bothers me, not sure why...

What are other's opininos?

1. There are plenty of other safety schools. Don't go to one that believes you are going to hell (Or DO go and make it known that you're against the hatred they preach).

2. If you take communion, you won't be expellled. I know an orthodox Jew who got in. They said he could make Kiddish (involves a small amount of wine), but he went to NYMC (catholic school) because they weren't as backwards as Loma Linda.

No school is worth losing your freedom 👎 . Unless you have no problem with not having a life.

so basically you think that life = drugs, cigarettes, extra-marital sex, and alcohol? first, all of those things can kill you and second that just really sucks

Life = the freedom to chose your own destiny.

Take it from a current med student. If you were THAT into sex, drugs, & rock'n'roll, you wouldn't make it through the first 4 weeks of first year.

After a test... let's see.. tobacco, copious amounts of alcohol and sex can be just the way to remain SANE!!

life obviously does not equal drugs, cigarettes, extra-marital sex, and alcohol combined. i don't engage in most of those activities. but i still want the ability to make my own decisions, and for some, these activities are a part of their lives. still, if it comes down to either loma linda or no med school, i would probably pick to go to med school.

everyone is free to post their opinions about LL, but i have a specific question about their contract and am looking for verification from someone who maybe got accepted last year or knows of someone who was accepted about it. does it really exists and what does it say? and please no rumors that you heard from a friend's friend who had a cousin who went there.
