How do you guys think Loma Linda compares to the other pharmacy schools in California? Is it just as good as Western?

Didn't apply to either; in my opinion they are at the bottom of the pack for CA schools.

Ah my mistake.
As for Loma, I don't think it's a bad school, I mean UCSF, UCSD, and USC are kind of hard to compare to because they're highly nationally ranked. After those three, I think Western, Loma and Pacific are fairly similar in regard, and then of course, Northstate last.

Don't forget CA has Touro as well.

Other than that, btw Loma Linda and Western: Loma Linda has a hospital and Western doesn't. Loma Linda also has a pretty good MD program, while Western has a good DO program. IDK just what environment you like.

Bottom half, but nowhere near as bad as California Northstate.

Whoa whoa UOP is a lot better than those.

Before we start making accusations, lets use objective comparison and reasoning as to why one school is better than another.

Good luck. :luck:

These are both solid schools that have good reputations in the area. Thank goodness there are people who only want to go to UCs and USC for their name and high reputation though; it means the rest of us can get in to the other schools! The big difference between these two schools is how the curriculum is set-up. LLU has semesters..1st year has a big focus on biochem & physiology. To me, the classes seem more 'subject-separated' (med chem...pharmacokinetics..)..whereas Western seems to mix different subjects into the block topics; Western has a quarter-like modified block for the 1st year then blocks..their IPPES and APPEs start sooner and they do a capstone project the last semester. Western has interprofessional courses..LLU has some religious courses (not academically demanding) and chapel requirements. LLU has the hospital as their main clinical rotation site, which could be + or -...you know you'll have a great site for every rotation but you won't be able to network as broadly. But, if you know you want to be a hospital pharmacist then the LLU medical center is a great resource. I hope that helps a bit!

Flawed thinking.

Why? To me, it's analogous to being set on Harvard or NYU for undergrad vs. your local university. Of course those schools have their own perks but they are not the only good universities in this country. Acting like everywhere else is ITT Tech in comparison is just not accurate.

"Perks" is an understatement.
