I'm trying to decide between these two schools.... Where would you go and why? Here are my pros and cons of each school.

LLU Pros
Cheaper tuition
Cheaper cost of living
Better clinical training (at least this seems to be the general consensus)
Smaller class size

LLU Cons
Don't like the campus
Don't like the area the school is in
Flippin Hot in the summer
Not many good food options on campus or within walking distance

USC Pros
Prestigious school with vast alumni connections
I love the campus, many many good places to eat and study
More options on decent places to live, like Santa Monica etc
PBL (although I'm not 100% on this)
Not as hot

USC Cons
More expensive tuition
More expensive cost of living
Larger class size

I'm sure I left out many things, pro and con for each school. Let me know what you think..........

Thanks for the link, that was very helpful!

Loma Linda will give you a bigger bang for its buck, a lot cheaper too. You also have to like integrating the whole Christian holistic approach into your training though.

But Loma Linda fo sho!

thanks for the link, any other thoughts people?

Hey Dentaldude,

I like your list of pros and cons - I am trying to make the same decision. Have you decided yet?

You can add to LLU cons two things:
1) Since it is a seventh day adventist school, they have their weekend clinics, professor-led study sessions, and make up classes on Sunday. They have church on Saturday, and everything at the school is closed from 3pm Friday until Sunday morning. Anybody who is a Christian who goes to church on Sunday will have to choose between church and school - a religious dilemma for some.
2) As the majority of the class is seventh day adventist, many grew up going to the same academies, undergraduate schools, and churches all over the world. Approximately 25% of the Class of 2011 is Korean SDA, for instance. This means that if you are not seventh day adventist, you may be coming into an environment where you are the "new kid." If you can fit in to this subculture/environment, make friends easily, that is fine.
