I realize that these threads get beat to death, but any insight would be good. Have a scheduling conflict and don't know much about either program other than the locations.

Unless you're a student at LL, which I'm assuming you're not because you said you don't know much about the programs, don't bother going there. Only take their own students...as it seems from previous/current residents.

Don't kill me people but I found their pamphlet that they have out during interview day in previous years to be offensive...

What did it say, DrZeke?

Well, I take that back...it wasn't offensive, but it made me uncomfortable...

In the pamphlet I saw there was a definite reference to religion with an image of an ophthalmologist operating using the microscope and jesus in the corner with light surrounding him and "guiding" the surgeon.

While I certainly respect people's religious choices and practices, it was too strong a message for my personal tastes. Ultimately, I am not looking for a program with a strong religious message, even if they claim to not let it sway the way they practice medicine...

Again, this is my personal opinion and each person has ideas about what they can and cannot tolerate in a training program and what they do and do not want in their work place.

Loma Linda hospitals are run by the Adventist church. Being upset by them having religious literature would be the same as being upset by a catholic hospital having the same.

Yes I'm aware of how its run.

I'm not upset by them. I'm just saying maybe some people don't realize how religious it is and that it's not for everyone.

Fair enough! My guess is that is likely why they take a lot of their own.

LOL! JESUS GUIDING THE SURGEON? i mean, I believe in Jesus too, but this just cracks me up too much!!!!

I applied to loma linda for fun, didn't even meet the reference letter requirements, but i seriously wrote an amazing supplementary stuff, and they still offered me an interview. That is hilarious(i mean, the pamphlet!)
