Through various searches here and on other sites, I've gathered that some places are better to work at than others, of course, and that long shifts or very late shifts are very possible.

My question to you: Upon graduation, how do I get a job that doesn't give shifts like that?

Many chain pharmacies are open 24 hours, as are most pharmacies in hospitals. I know of a few privately owned pharmacies in my area that are open 7:00 am to 7:00 pm (or something like that), but it seems like that would provide a very low percentage of open jobs.

This is pretty much my only worry about going into pharmacy, so any feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks!

I've worked 10-hour shift this summer, and it was tiring, but it's definitely do-able. I was a little more stressed out than working 8-hour days full-time during the summer, but it didn't feel like it was way too much.

If you like your co-workers, the amount of time you work won't seem to matter on some days.

I've found that it's not the duration of the shift, but the quality of your co-workers that makes or breaks your day. I worked a 14 hour shift this summer with a good supporting cast and it was nowhere near as stressful as the eight hour shifts I had with less capable co-workers.

Granted this may be out of your hands, but If I were a prospective Pharmacist I'd be looking at the store's work-flow as opposed to their hours of operation.
