Hello, I saw couple of videos on youtube about typical day of dental students and
it just got me wondering..

can you wear something underneath the scrub? (like..long sleeve shirt or something)
or do you have to have it short when you are in labs?

how do you survive cold weather in such a thin clothes.....even if it's indoor😛

Answers would be appreciated! Thanks 😀

Is it mandatory to wear short sleeve scrubs?
are there long-sleeve scrubs?

Not a dentist, but popped up on the unread topics for the mobile app.

Can't do long sleeve scrubs; whole point is that it's surgical garb and you have to be able to *scrub* your forearms for surgery.

That being said, plenty of people wear them in healthcare; if not in an actual OR setting, it's ok to wear something underneath, or wear a scrub jacket over them... but I'll admit to ignorance of any dentistry-specific conventions.

For example, the "ER Mullet" = scrub top & cargo pants. d=)

Cheers!

At my local clinic, the volunteers, assistants, and dentists wear jacket-like scrubs over their short-sleeve scrubs. All the dental students that I've seen wear short-sleeve.

i used to put long sleeve shirts under my scrubs and got no flack for it. this was extremely helpful in cold lecture halls. once the white coat goes on and you're really working, it gets pretty hot though. and what daiphon says makes sense in dentistry too.. you have to be able to wash up your forearms pretty well. my solution to all this after 4 years of dental school: a great hoodie collection.
