About to finish up my MS1 year and planning out the arc of the summer. Since we'll be about 80-90% through the preclinical curriculum (we cover Endo, repro and MSK for 6 weeks when we return in August before jumping into rotations) I'm trying to plan out my strategy for knowledge retention towards step 1, which I'll take after rotations, concurrent with Step 2 (between October-December 2026). I already am making use of Anking as part of that and we'll get UWorld access next year but I'm also considering AMBOSS as well.

For those who used it, was it worth it? And if I buy it, when would be the right time to start into questions, during M1 Summer? Over the next year after that? During dedicated?

I really like AMBOSS so far, as a fellow M1. It's a huge ball buster but learning a lot. AMBOSS seems to be regarded as "harder" than some of the other platforms so I'm mainly using it to learn and not caring about my score the first pass through, especially since I haven't completed preclinical yet. I set up a study plan to do 1-2 hours per weekday a few months ago and the whole Step 1 bank is done sometime in September, at which point I'll start my UWorld account we get from the school. Might do a second pass of the subjects I suck at most if I have time.
