Winner: me

2 hour faculty interview at USC. Any other takers?

1 hour, 15 minutes at Ohio State.

P.S. Jeffy, how was U$C? I'm going in a few days. 😀

my interviewer took me back to her place; warmed up the bubble bath; we jumped in and talked anatomy all night long

total time: 8 hours....

It was awesome. I really can't complain about anything there and almost feel like it's my number one choice among all of the schools that I applied to. If they were to give me a decent enough financial aid package (doubtful), I'd probably just ignore the UC's and go there.

I actually had to cut it short because I had to catch my plane. Maybe that's what did it.

That would be pretty jacked up if that were the case. Then again, better to assume that it was your rush to the airport that did it and not your ****ty writing ability or general lack of potential in becoming a doc. 🙂

3 hours at Harvard for a lab tech job.

Not at an allopathic school, but my 3 separate interviews (2 faculty and 1 admissions) at KCOM totalled 2hrs 45minutes.

I thought that 1.5+ hours was a little too much. I fail to see why someone would force you to spend a half day with them for an interview. What the hell was the point in that?

I had a 1.5 hour interview at SUNY Stony Brook, but it was awesome. I would have kept talking to the guy longer, but I had to catch a train.

I interviewed for 2 hours 20 minutes at UPitt. A retired Doc basically sat there and told me about the world of medicine, what it takes to be a good doc, by the end of the interview he was telling me how to plan my retirement (because he retired with 7 million dollars in the bank) and showing me his family pictures. This guy was actually really inspiring and is by far my most memorable interviewer I had.

I ended up missing my next meeting with the admissions dean. When i showed up and told her I was late because my interview was so long, she said "who was your interviewer?" When i told her who it was, she immediately smiled and said "you probably should go have a beer or something, every time I have a conversation with him I feel like I need a beer afterwards, he's so intense."

Basically, i got a 2+ hour motivational speech on how to go about my career, and some of the best advice I have gotten thus far (this was 2 years ago).

2.5 hours at U Vermont. It was terrible. By the time I got out, all the interviewees had left and the admissions office was closed - with my coat inside. I had to walk back to the hotel in 30 degree weather with no coat after 2.5 hours of being grilled with political nonsense.

1.5 hour faculty interview at Rosalind Franklin, another hour with student interviewer...gotta love unstructured interviews... 🙄

I think if we hadn't been so close to lunch, the student interview would have gone on longer!

I can definitely say the same about my student interview at USC. He was running on for so long that I almost missed my tour. I swear, USC people are so chatty . . . maybe that's a good thing 😳
