Okay guys. Been reading for about a year now- thanks for all the great advice and motovation. My question is My current cum GPA is a 3.3 My science is a at about 3.6 I'm 25 and I'm just starting my junior year in the fall at USF- studying biomedical sciences. I have 2 wf's on my transcripts which I'm trying to have removed due to family issues. I repeated both courses and recieved B's in them. Anyhow- I have a solid 12 classes till I'm finished with my BS. and a lot of upper division science work that I'm about to start on. I also have 5 C's because I wasn't really trying. The C's are in easy classes but I was young and had no intrest in school. I would take a class here and there- maybe one class a semester and get a c.

So- now I want to be a dentist. Thank god I never messed around in any science classes! The last year my GPA has been above a 3.6 and I plan to keep kicking ass in ALL of my classes. Also- I've been taking 13 to 15 credit hours a semester now. You can see the change and upward trend in my transcripts. I'm just worried about thoes WF's bringing me down when I apply... If I rock my dat- and keep up this trend do you guys think the adcoms will look beyond my bad start? I figure I can pull about a 3.5 or 3.6 before AADSAS factors in the two wf's. Wich should bring me to about an umm??? Any guesses?

I'm also starting nero science research posistion and I am thinking about 500 hours of chairside assistance (not paid just shadowing) by the time I finish school. I plan to apply after I finish my degree so my GPA will be as high as it can be.

Well guys thanks a lot for all the times you've let me spy on your conversations. It has helped. I guess it's just time to face all of you once and for all..

Thanks
Mike

The short answer?? .....You should be fine.

Own the DAT, apply early and enjoy dental school!

I remember reading a thread similar to this and a couple posters were dental students that had gotten in with W's etc, so you should be fine Mike.

Like was mentioned, take your classes serious from now on to increase the positive GPA trend and own the DAT's.

woowoo! Go Bulls lol. I think I should be okay too. I'm sure the adcoms will notice that I am way more mature now then I was. I just have to stay on top of Ochem II- 2 more weeks! Any reqs as to who I should take for biochem at USF?

If anyone else feels like chiming in feel free to do so. Thanks again for all of the information.

Best investment of time if you have options between professors. Not advertising but I usually find these fairly accurate.

Thanks Dr. Reo. I have already checked out rate my prof for help in finding which prof I should take it with. I have read nothing but horrible comments from those who have posted. I think the ease for the "easier" professor was like a 1.0 and helpfulness was VERY low. I'm not trying to take the easy way out however- I would like to have a level playing field when I go into the class. Not some professor who says "this is a hard class so you should all fail." BS! I understand that some material is VERY tough but I feel it says something about a professor who has a very low pass rate for his class. Even the hardest material can be taught and absorbed by those who do their part.

I think you should be fine. Try to get those WFs off your transcript. I go to USF too. GOOOO BULLS!

Go Bulls!

Your GPA is fine. Just get a decent score on the DAT and all that.

Biochem sucks no matter who you take.

Good luck.

Good luck to you Dan. Go Bulls!.. You really think a 3.3. to 3.4 is okay??? worst case it would be a 3.3 when I apply.

I had a 3.3 .... and my SGPA was a bit lower. You will be fine as long as you get above 19-20 on the DAT.
