I've heard of companies like walgreens and osco paying for pharmacy school if you work for them immediately after graduation. I've also heard that pharmaceutical companies will pay for you to get your phD if you plan on working for them following obtaining your phD. Has anybody heard the same news?

Yes. Many employers forgive loan repayments if you agree by contract to work for them for X amount of years after graduation.

I have a cousin who works in management at Walgreen's and he says that, while Walgreen's will do loan repayments, they will usually send you to the pharmacies that no one wants to work in...

I think that most people would be better off paying off their own loans (maybe starting with a signing bonus?) and leaving their options open. It's not like most pharmacists make chump change!
 
CVS offers 5K per year that you don't have to pay back if you decide to work for them. If you don't work for them, it reverts to a loan. They don't tell you the interest rate. Once you graduate, you don't have the benefit of student loan interest rates.
