Hey guys,

I'm finally at the point where this is the final hurdle before I submit my application. I chose to write about a single experience for my personal statement because it was very profound for me personally. Going back and reading through it however, I really only mention medicine in passing. I've found conflicting info on personal statements, some sources saying to write from your heart, don't rehash your CV, etc. and some that essentially advise you to tell a narrative about yourself. My PS, as it stands, isn't really about myself, but rather an experience.

So I would like to see if there's anyone that has experience with PS's and/or admissions, etc. that's willing to provide any insight. The reader thread is pretty desolate right now, otherwise I would hit up some of those upstanding members of the SDN community.

IMO, the whole point of a PS is to explain "why medicine" in your own personal way. If medicine is only mentioned in passing and is not the basis of your PS, then it will most probably be a weak one. I can take look at it if you want me to, but I'll be critiquing more on the overall message than looking for spelling or grammar issues.

I'm not any expert but I do have a fair amount of experience critiquing essays. I can give it a look but it'd be more for general message, syntax, flow, effect, etc.
