Looking for Advice on Match Process in Diagnostic Radiology

I'm a third-year medical student who will be applying for residency in Diagnostic Radiology next fall. Unfortunately, my school is unable to provide me with a radiology faculty advisor so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend me some advise. 1. Rec letters in radiology aren’t super important. One is great even.

2. Research in radiology >= Research at all >> No research

3. Step 1 > Clinical grades > Step 2. Ideal Step 1 > 240, but >220 is still ok. After that requires some application gymnastics.

This is very accurate.
Only thing I’ll add: Step 1 becomes increasingly important the more lucrative the residency program. So >240 amongst applicants becomes the norm. This might be obvious, but something to keep in mind when your applying broadly.

You’ll get a bell-curve of interviews centered around mid-tier academic programs. That’s also probably how you want to apply.
