Hey guys, I'm attending CSPM this fall and was wondering if anyone had advice on housing and transportation here. I know CSPM doesn't have on-campus housing and I'm coming from out of state so looking for places/[people to live with] is quite cumbersome to figure out.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm not going to CSPM but would highly suggest rooming with someone else unless you are independently wealthy or have a family. Someone at the admission office generally keeps a list of people/places that are available either as individual rentals or for roommates. Craigslist is also a good place to browse but I would be hesitant to randomly pick up a roommate and then lock yourself into a lease based on a classified ad. It'd be ideal to get a roommate that is also attending CSPM so that you know their study habits will be similar to yours.

Also, if I could make a slightly unconventional suggestion for looking for roommates - major universities such as Berkley or UCSF often have LDS (Mormon) Institute buildings on or near the campus. Most of those buildings keep postings for people looking for roommates. That may sound like a stupid idea if you aren't a Mormon, but lets face it, Mormons usually don't party too hard and make for pretty decent roommates. Plus, people who post places for rent at the institute are generally Mormons as well so they cut deals for people that are a bit better than what you'd find on Craigslist. Anyways, if you want help finding out who to contact, I could probably point you in the right direction.

Either way, good luck. Its an expensive area to live in.
