Hey Everyone!

First post on the forum, and I'm looking for help.

I've recently decided that I'm interested in going to medical school, but not completely decided. I'm currently going into my junior year as an undergraduate in a nursing program, but I have not yet started my nursing classes. My GPA is currently a 3.75 through my first two years, and I was also a 4.2 GPA student in High School.

Because I'm not completely decided, I would like to attain my nursing degree first, and then apply to medical school. Does anyone know if that is looked down upon? That's my first, and main concern at this point. I'm also wondering if anyone can give me any helpul tips as I go down this road.

Thanks!

Adcoms won't look down on the fact that you have a nursing degree. People here might give you some flak. It would be silly to pursue a nursing degree solely as a route to being an MD. However, as you say, you're not sure that you want to apply, and you'd like to work as a nurse in the meantime. As such, it seems like a fine idea to get the degree, work for a year or two and then decide if you'll go for the MD/DO. Go for it.
