Looking for interview info

I have had my secondaries in since late August. I have been put on pre-interview hold at two schools, rejected from one, and havent heard from 8 others. I have two questions: 1) What exactly does a pre-interview hold mean. Does it mean I am not going to be considered until after December 1st, or just not for their first couple interview cycles?
2) Is there any recognizable timeline for interview notification. I am not a high end candidate so I did not expect interviews immediately, however, is it standard operating procedure to have applicants you are possibly going to interview wait in limbo?

Usually they want to see the caliber of the remaining applicants that they have in comparison to you. while it is not a rejection, it is obviously not an invite either. If you are better than those they have yet to look at then you will get an interview, if not then prob not. If you dont hear by jan-feb and you really want to go there send a letter saying how much you like their school etc. It may help your cause. good luck
