Hey guys!

I just have a couple of questions. I only took 2 classes in the 2nd semester of my 1st year due to illness etc. I am a Canadian hoping to apply to American MD schools. Other than that I have a pretty solid GPA. I am just wondering how does that play a role in the application and what are the consequences?

Thanks guys

Assuming you are a strong applicant, it should not prevent you from getting interviews. Secondaries and interviews should give you a place to explain the situation.

That's not an issue as long as you maintained a solid course load in other semesters.

Alright! Thank you guys for the help! Just one more question, what is considered a competitive MCAT for US MD schools if you're from Canada?

Depends on the school and specific circumstances to you. But I'd say you should shoot for at least a 33 to be at the median of all matriculants.

I have heard that at least a 10 in every section (especially verbal) is the minimum for canadian applicants so a 33, like @claduva94 suggested, seems to be a good set point.
