Hi everyone, I am currently a junior, studying Kinesiology and Health Promotion with a Psychology minor. I am looking for some advice on taking the MCAT/taking a gap year, as my pre-med advisor has really not been any help. I have a 3.3 science GPA, including a C+ in Gen Chem II and a C from Pre-Calc my junior year of high school. I did retake Chem II and got an A. My cumulative GPA is currently a 3.75. I'm currently taking Ochem I and its going well, but I'm hesitant to make plans to take the MCAT in late May/ early June as one of my professors is recommending, just because I don't want to rush it and do poorly. I plan to take Ochem II and Biochem in the spring, and those will be my last lab science classes before I graduate.
So from what I have read, I have two options. Take the MCAT this spring, hopefully do well, and apply, or wait, take it next fall/winter, and apply the following cycle. This leads me to taking a gap year, which I would not be against, but I don't know what I would do for that either.
Basically, I'm just looking for some advice based on my science GPA, which I feel like is low. I have some volunteering, shadowing, leadership, and research hours, but nothing insane. I absolutely hate being the person that asks the same question as 5,000 other people, but I feel lost and am frustrated with my advisor so I would really appreciate any advice! Thank you.
