alright...so here is my situation. i graduated from the university of texas @ austin may 2006 with a 3.27 overall gpa receiving a bs in human biology (genetics/biotechnology). while at ut i accumulated quite a few ecs: member of forensics org for 2 years; volunteered at local childrens hospital for 3 years; was a member of ut mens/womens d1 basketball practice team 2 years; intramural official; undergraduate research assistant 2 years; founder/president of undergrad pediatrician org; and ast manager at local restaurant 2 years. i had taken my mcat junior year, scoring a 23q, and applied...not getting any interviews. since then i relocated to charleston, sc where i: coach 7th grade boys basketball team at a private school; took the kaplan prep class and retook mcat scoring a 25n; volunteer at local hospital; employed full time as research specialist in neuroscience lab at medical university of south carolina; have retaken a physics 2 course that i got a d in during undergrad, and will most likely get a or b this time; shadow the head chair of neurosurgery here at musc; and hoping to shadow a reproductive endocrinologist, do soon.
soooo....basically, i am not too pleased with my mcat score, but am hoping all of my extra experience plus great lor's can get me in. the head chair of neurosurgery i shadow, the doctor i do research for, and 2 ex-profs from ut will be my 4 letter of rec. i am planning on applying to all texas med schools, both schools in sc, some other various schools across country and possibly do schools and caribbean med schools. can anyone give me their opinion/advice...i will be more than happy to receive anything you can give me. thanks. peace.

are u a minority applicant. i ask bc a 25 in that case would put you in a good spot especially with all those lors and letters of recs!!! if not a minority i would still say you have a good chance of atleast interviewing, especially in tx. in both cases i would say to apply super early, like right now i think the tmdsas opened may 1st. the sooner the better especially for pple who are worried about their mcat scores(not said in a rude way, ur score is better than mine!!)...good luck
