How important is it to get the license before looking for work? I was thinking of waiting for Jan to get licensed due to a convoluted license situtation. Is this too long to wait to look for work? Do companies want you to have a pharmacy license in that state before looking? It's possible to take the Naplex and get licensed in an alternative state sooner; however, I would hate to do so, as the state I want to be licensed in is difficult to transfer into.

It depends on the employer. Some will not hire grad interns. Others do require an active pharmacist license upon hire.

How much of a disadvantage would I be at if I became licensed in January as opposed to August in relation to finding work? At what point is late licensing frowned upon by employers?

Some won't look at your application until you have an active state license. This is really up to the individual employer.

Even if it says license required it usually takes 1-2 months for the hiring process so would it be ok to apply now for a job that requires an active license?
