Cum GPA: 3.0
Science GPA: 4.0
MCAT: Haven't taken yet

How will the 3.0 overall look on my application? What kind of MCAT am I looking at to be competitive or is being competitive out of my range entirely thanks to my overall GPA?

Newbie, please refer to the "what are my dubious chances" thread.

It is almost impossible to answer that question without more information. A lot will depend on your MCAT and your ECs are extremely important. I wouldn't worry about the GPA too much as long as your MCAT and ECs are good. :luck:

So you got an A in every science class but a C in every non-science class? Even those weird electives like survey of art? How did that happen?

Didn't you know? He was Just Joshin in those pointless non-science classes ...

I'm non traditional. When I was in ugrad, I did horribly. I think my GPA was something like 2.5 or 2.6. The only science I took was Evolution and I got a C in that even. I went back after being in the real world for a few years, retook Evolution just to get the grade replacement thing AACOMAS offers. By app time, I will have 68 credits and so far (50+ credits in), I have a 4.0 so my science GPA is now a 4.0 and hopefully will be by the time I send in my application but my overall GPA is much lower with low hopes of bringing it up to a respectable number.

You'll have to have an explanation ready for why you did so aweful in UG, but otherwise having a higher science GPA is much better than the other way around. Just make sure you don't get a 2 on the VR section, or it will look like you can't communicate outside of science.

I made buttons for my Princeton Review classmates that said "Rock the MCAT"
