I need some help, esp from those that have been through this match stuff already.

I have 4 LORS

1-EM SLOR from a PD (supposed to be excellent per his secretary)
1-from a Medicine AI
1- from another surgical elective
AND................

I was checking on the status of one of them today, the secretary told me it will be mailed on monday and she read it to me. The letter is from the Vice-Chair of Surgery/PD of a surgery residency program, I worked with him directly a lot during my Sub-I in Trauma Critical Care It is an AMAZING letter, with just one problem. Even though I made it VERY clear all along that Iwas gonna do EM (he even gave me a hard time about it...in a good way) , he put in the letter that "......it is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Mr.XYZ, an outstanding student who is applying for a residency position in SURGERY"

ARRRGGGHHHHHH

What do I do, he is on vacation then at the ACS conference and will not be back for 3 weeks, so I cant ask him to change it. SO, do I risk it and send the letter out or do I drop it and hope that my other letters are this good.

I really need this right about now!!!!!!!

Thanks for your help

Talk to his secretary and see if she can be of any help in rectifying this mistake. It may be as simple as printing off a corrected copy.

If you want the letter that badly, have the secretary draft a new letter with the correction, a cover letter explaining the situation and a preaddressed envelope. Have this packet sent to his hotel before the ACS conference. The hotel front desk will have it ready for him when he gets there. All he has to do is sign and put it in the lobby maildrop.
