Hey everyone,
Just had an inquiry. In terms of reference letter, if I have one letter that was sent to Interfolio in the fall of 2008, can it still be used for this application cycle? Thanks

It can be -- but just be warned a few schools have requirements that all LORs much be recent (less than a year old).

I have 5 LORs and all but one is from May/June 2010. The one that isn't is from a former employer. He wrote me the letter in fall 2008 and it's been hard to get in touch with him (though i did send him the old letter so that the date could be updated... but no one got back to me). I might be sending a sixth letter to a school based on one of their requirements that will be from the fall 2008 because I am having an impossible time locating the professor who wrote it for me two years ago (summer vacation). I contacted the school and they said it was OK.

I wouldn't have all your LORs be two years old though.

You should make an attempt to have the letter updated, but it's okay if one out of your bunch is an old letter. I had a letter from Spring 2007 in my file for the 2009 application cycle, and applied to a couple schools that I applied to the first time (so they've already seen the letter). One accepted me, so it's not a big deal.
