Hello everyone! 🙂

I have a quick question on my letters of recommendations.

I am currently abroad and had some professors agree to write my letters before I left. I was waiting for my MCAT scores before sending them my Interfolio link, but now I'm still not sure if I will be applying this cycle or not. Would it be okay to tell them this and ask that the letters aren't dated so that way I can use them either this year or next depending on when I decide to apply? Or do I not even need to ask this? Like would it be okay if the letters were from this year, but I didn't use them until next summer?

Thanks for any answers! 🙂

i also have a question about letters of rec. does the professor submit them to your college and then you request them to be posted on interfolio? How does this process work?

From what I understand, having found out about Interfolio on here and having called them, you send a "request" from your Interfolio account to the email addresses of your professors so then submit them electronically to Interfolio. (There's a close file option, no worries). When it's time to submit to AMCAS, Interfolio transfers them for you.

Have you talked to your school's premed office? If your school stores letters for you, then you have no reason to pay Interfolio. The office would store the letters for you and send them to AMCAS once you request them to be sent. Interfolio is not a required part of sending LORs.

I applied last year and went abroad right after my primary was complete, with LORs and all. And many things that happened since I wish were reflected in my LORs - that could have been achieved by sending the writers an update.

Not sure about your current application, what you are doing, or MCAT logistics and LOR factors. Maybe your letters are already great and yes, one year will not make a difference!

I'll be using interfolio to submit my letters to AMCAS. I already have 2 letters in my interfolio account that I will be submitting go AMCAS. However, I dont have an AMCAS account so I didnt have an AMCAS ID to give to my letter writers. My question is, should I tell my letter writers to resubmit their etters to interfolio with my AMCAS ID, or will AMCAS place my ID on all of the letters that they receive from my interfolio account?

Your AMCAS ID is sent with the letters, if you choose that it will be listed automatically.

When you send it from your Interfolio account to AMCAS, you will have the option to add the letter ID and AMCAS ID to the letter.
