So most of the secondaries that I have been filling out state that you can have the proff send in their own letter of rec. on their own letter head instead of using the evaluation forms. When they say that the evaluation form is optional, do they really mean that it is optional or would they prefer to you to use that. I guess this might be a hard question to answer since none of us are on the adcom. So is the form given just incase your recommender isn't good at writing letters/ doesnt have time? Help me out. I would rather let my proff's send in their own letters that they have already written instead of having to fill out several more forms.

Although the forms came with most of the secondaries I received, I went ahead and used the physician/prof LOR's. Aside from one school that REQUIRED the form, it appeared to work fine as I have recently starting getting interviews.

I didn't use any of the forms and it seems to have been ok. Good luck!:luck:

I didn't have any of my recommenders use the forms. None of the schools I applied to had a problem with that. 🙂

My school collected the letters from the letter writers and sent them all in as a packet with the committee letter. So, I had my LORs sent to my school, and they were sent to the schools I applied to. I know that MSU requires you to use their LOR form, but optional means optional for the LORs.
