Like some of you, I'm still anxiously waiting for three of my four LORs to be submitted. Patience, patience! But I got an email this morning from one of my recommenders to say that there's a 3000 word limit; she sent me my rec asking me to edit it down for her. First, I'm assuming she means a 3000 CHARACTER limit, because the letter isn't anywhere near over 3000 words. Second, has anyone heard about this? 3000 characters isn't all that long, but none of my other letter-writers mentioned having a problem...then again, I have no idea what standard length would be. Just thought that if this was a known rule I'd mention it to my other letter-writers.

Any insight is much appreciated! I'm very much in the group that's still working on VMCAS (obviously), so I feel everyone's pain on that front. Good luck, all!

It is 3000 characters. One of the vets who wrote my recommendation came in to work talking about how she has to write a 3000 character recommendation... I told her I would be glad to trade and she can write the 5000 character PS for me instead. 😀

Thanks so much for the quick reply! My list of things still-to-do is so ridiculously long at this point; of COURSE my newest job is to chop up a really lovely letter about how awesome somebody thinks I am. Of course. Seems a pretty apt metaphor for this whole process, eh? Sigh. VMCAS is trying to break me but I'm not having any of it...yet... 😉

i had 4 evaluations submitted as well. i know it's been discussed before but i've never come across a convincing answer. i know that CSU allows you to designate the 3 you want to be considered, in their supplemental, but does anyone know what other schools do? i think tigers said OkSt picks 3 random ones. i'm wondering about this b/c i only have 1 DVM...so if one of my schools does the 3 random, i hope the DVM ends up in the random! 😀

ruh roh. :scared: VMCAS told me it would be the first three listed names on the application. I have 3 from Phd/DVM (1-3)and the other two (4-5) are from my compensated work experience and my volunteering work

I'll be calling VMCAS tomorrow to confirm.
