I'm only applying to Texas med schools and TMDSAS requires two LOR and you have the option of sending other ones to the individual schools. My question is I couldn't find out who they wanted the LOR from. Does anyone have any advice on what the breakdown should be... how many from science prof's...non-science prof's.... doctors I shadowed....Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

why dont you just send all the ones you have?
since there is only a minimum limit, might as well send it all of em.

Okay, your understanding of the two LORs may be a little off. The two LORs are for students who don't have a PreMed advisory committee at their school. This is how it worked at my school and I imagine most everywhere else. The student would set up interviews with Profs who were on the PreMed advisory commitee. The Profs would then submit their letters to the PreMed advisor who would then combine all of the letters (in my case three) into one letter and that letter would then be submitted to TMDSAS. For students who don't have an advisory commitee at their school or for students who have been out of school an extremely long time, then they ask for the two LORs. If you are a student w/o a PreMed advisory commitee then you'll probably want both letters to be from Profs. If you have been out of school for a long time, then I would go with letters from Docs you have worked with or shadowed.

So TMDSAS requires only one letter if it's from an advisory commitee and two if you don't have access to a commitee. After my PreMed advisor sent my LOR from undergrad school I sent another personal letter from a doc I had been working with for the past two years. This letter was sent directly to the schools not to TMDSAS.

I went through the cycle as of last year and this is how it was for me. I doubt things have changed but to get a definitive answer I would email or call TMDSAS. Hope this helps.
