So I go to a school that provides this service. However my school does not disclose whether or not I waived my right to look at the letters, so will this be bad? The last thing I want to do is have the ADCOMs think that I looked at the letters when I actually didn't....

I have reservations about having the professor submit it electronically because in the event that I need the letter again, I would have to ask for it a second time and that would be annoying for both of us, especially for my profs. Anyone encounter problems with the ADCOMs not liking letter forwarding services? Would it be inappropriate to ask my writers to do both - submit to letter service by mail and to AADSAS electronically?

In my school we have such a service too. I thought about registering with it.

I will have 4 LORs (2 sci, 1 dent, 1 employee) that I will submit through AADSAS. The only school that those LORs don't fit is Columbia (among the schools that I will be applying to). I will simply ask another reference (3rd sci) to send it to them directly.

In my situation I will not need the service. Depends on the situation I guess.🙂

ADD: I didn't see any of the schools that I am applying to wanting the letters to be sent to them directly (talking about that "event" that might happen). So I think I am safe and won't bother my profs more than once.

I think it's better to have your profs just send them directly to AADSAS. Most of the profs are comfortable with doing it online and you find out as soon as those letters are sent in through the portal. (So your profs can't use the excuse 'it's going through the mail', etc.)
I had my letters originally sent to my school's LOR service as well but ended up not using it.

P.S. To above poster, for this cycle, Columbia didn't accept letters sent directly to the school. They wanted all the letters to be sent through AADSAS. However, they do send out interview invitations to ppl who didn't turn in 3 letters...

So if I wanted to go the electronic route, I'm guessing AADSAS would send my prof an email with a link? Would it be true then that by doing it with the forwarding service I don't have to bother the prof again should I not get in this upcoming cycle? So I'm guessing another benefit to the electronic submission of LORs is that they don't have to be physically handled by an AADSAS person to be processed, once they are submitted you are good to go?

I'm just afraid the profs will be less motivated to get everything in on time if they don't have to physically get it in an envelope and mail it out. They also ask for the writer's address, would the work address be OK?
