at my university, there are 2 professors who teach physics during a term (it's the same class, it's just that they alternate when they lecture). my question is, would it be alright to have both of my physics 1 teachers write both of my science LOR's, or do they specifically want two distinct subjects?

I've tried e-mailing many of my professors, but they seem unresponsive (besides those 2 physics teachers), so I'm left with very little options. what do yall think?

But what could one say that the other would not say as well?

If you have a different relationship with both of them, then maybe so.
You might be able to do it technically speaking, but it might end up in the end reflecting negatively on you because you couldn't find other professors to say anything different about you.
I can't see the benefit, unless you knew one of them before this class...but that's just me. Goodluck finding professors, I understand your pain

^thanks for your input. anyone else?

It's going to depend on how well you know both of them personally.

If they don't know you very well, and end up writing the same fact that you got an A in their course, you will have essentially a duplicate LOR.

I'm assuming that one teacher taught you for one semester, and another taught you for a second semester.

If you have only three letters including these two, then it would probably be concerning. If you have something like five letters, then it's probably not such a big deal.

You also should have a pretty strong relationship w/ both of them, if they only know you through your exam scores or whatever, then getting what is essentially a duplicate will be useless (and in reality, they'll both be pretty useless if they only know you through this way).

I got LOR's from two different ppl related to my research, my PI and a grad student. Same laboratory and projects, but they oversaw different parts of my work. Plus I had three other LOR's in addition to those two.

whoa, i had the same thing. maybe we were in the same class. what school do you go to?

edit: She(?) doesnt mean one prof per semester se2131, she means the class had two profs, one would give the lecture for one class period and the other would give it for the next class period.

Yeah, I should have read the original post properly. Still, if they both know the OP well, and if there are at least 2-3 other LOR's coming in, then I don't think it'd be a problem.

damn...I keep getting called a girl when 'minah' is actually a chinese nickname my family calls me lol.

anyway, I go to the UF, and these are going to be the only science LOR's I'll have since my pre-med advisor recommends 2 science, 1 non-sci, 1 health exp., 1 employer to cover all the bases.

and to tell you the truth, I never really built a relationship with any of my profs. since classes were so big. so even if I did get a letter from another teacher in a different subject, the only difference might be that one says I got an 'A' in chem and the other will say I got an 'A' in physics. I hope this isn't going to hurt me.
