Hey all,

So I'm retaking a science class this semester. If I were to get a LOR from the professor who teaches this class, do you think that would be acceptable to med schools, or do you think they would prefer to have LORs from classes that I only took once?

Thanks everyone!

Are you retaking it with the same professor, or is it the same class with a different professor?

I had my letter written by a professor after a retake, and no school had a problem with it. It was at another school though. If it's the same professor, it would be great if the letter mentioned how you approached the class the second time around, overcame obstacles, etc. etc.

Yeah it's a different professor at a new school.

They want the strongest letter from someone who knows you. It will be even better if you took two classes or more under the same professor, since he/she will know you more. I guess your case can be qualified as that.

What matters is that the letter comes from someone who knows you well. 1x or 2x, that won't matter.
