Is it required? Im getting a committee recommendation from my professors. Is it required to get a letter of recommendation from a dentist you shadowed? Is the letter supposed to say that I've shadowed for an x amount of minimum hours?

but if your committee doesn't require a dentist letter you may be in the clear. Generally whoever writes your letters will state how they know you, and how long they've known you, ie, how many hours you've shadowed them (give or take).

Assuming I'm getting a committee letter, should I submit the dentist letter to the committee, or directly to the schools?

Generally you need 3 letters; assuming you've done significant shadowing, there needs to be a letter from the doc addressing your experience.
