Where does it say that the letter must be from a prof in a classroom setting??

Most medical school sites just claim the letter must be from a faculty member.

If this is such an important distinction, shouldn't they be posting this on their admissions website?? For instance, both of my science LOR are from 2 professors who I did research for and who I TA'd for, YET i got course credit for these, which can be located on my transcript.... The courses are listed as Independent research and intro to biology teaching. I feel like anyone can just argue that these can be "learning setting" courses.

So where do they draw this line? It must be on the transcript as a course? because it is... You must have gotten an A? people get B's and rec letters all the time. It has to be a LECTURE course?? ppl get seminar type courses for rec letter too.

Can someone who knows what they are talking about clarify this so I know if I have to jump into some last minute junkyard of a science course to suck up for a "Lecture/Class setting/Must be in a classroom with a desk/Get an A" LOR?

Thank you.

I would ask Goro.

But if you want the BEST answer you need to call each of the schools you are interested in. I am pretty sure it will differ from school to school. I called every school I applied to in order to make sure my pre-requisites were appropriate (I had a unique circumstance). I didn't leave anything up to chance and I would only settle for nothing short of the best/appropriate guidance. This is your career and nobody is going to care about it as much as you do. So buck up and start dialing.

It does differ from school to school. Why don't medical schools just specify these little "hidden" reqs on their websites instead of throwing kids off who have to reapply every year? They can be so vague with their admissions reqs. Has anyone else had this issue and got in?
