So here's the short story - I took the Aug MCAT, got a 30R, have a 3.4 cum GPA, and am currently a research coordinator for an emergency department. My numbers are on the not-so-spectacular side I know, but the rest of my app is strong...or so I think. I have 2 interviews scheduled so far, and 2 rejections - and haven't heard from 11 other schools.

So my boss says to me today - are you sure all of your LOR's are good?! I have seen his, so I know that one is fine, but has anyone ever gone about finding out if there is something wrong with an LOR? I wasn't feeling THAT bad about my situation until he implied that I should have way more interviews than I actually have. Any suggestions/thoughts - or am I just stressing too much about his comment?

Thanks for the help!

I think you are stressing too much over his comment. Don't listen to people who are not familiar with the application process. They can unnecessarily (word?) stress you out. First of all, if your LOR was bad you probably wouldn't have two interviews already...right? Second of all, for an August MCATer I think there is quite a bit of time left for you to receive more interviews. If it makes you feel any better I also only have two interview invites (Wayne State and Case Western). I applied to 20 schools! I haven't heard from 16 schools (at MSU I am on hold for a secondary and at George Washington I am on hold for an interview). My stats are similar to yours too (31P, 3.75 cum and approx sci gpa) and my background isn't record breaking but it isn't weak either (Chem Engin UG, Biomed Engin Masters plus two years of work experience in large biomedical company). I'm not giving up yet and I don't think you should worry...I'm crossing my fingers that we will hear much more within the next couple months (maybe even next few weeks). By the way, do you live in MN? Me too...

yeah, i wouldn't stress out yet. i was also an August MCAT taker and my numbers are sort of similar to yours. i've had 3 interviews, but other than those, i haven't heard anything since being complete at 10 schools. there's still time.

Thanks for the reassurance - I'm just being too sensitive

Mental Note - must thicken skin before med school...
