Hey all, thank all of you for your wonderful contribution to this forum. I greatly appreciate it
But i have a question. My deans office downloaded my 3rd LOR 2 weeks ago but i still cannot find it in my post office and all programs still have it as N/A/. It is still not listed as one of my letters in my post office. The two letters i finalized before i submitted my applications are all in there. Is this normal since it has now been 2 weeks??

"Downloaded" means your deans office "downloaded" the names of those writing letters, not the actual rec letter. That letter has not been submitted to your deans office yet.

It's been a little while since I've dealt with ERAS postoffice, but the comment above sounds right. I would call the person writing the LOR for you and ask him/her if the letter has been submitted yet (ask politely). If you didn't already, offer to give a copy of your CV to the person, +/- the places you are thinking of applying. Then if it's still not submitted in 2 weeks from that time, you call them again...repeat ad nauseum or Q2 weeks x 6 weeks. If it's still not done by that time, that means he's not going to do it and time to go get a different letter.

This situation is the reason why it's always better to have an extra letter or two, b/c some attendings are just so busy, or just flaky, and don't end up doing things on schedule.

I had a similar situation where I asked for a letter about 2-3 weeks ago. After wondering what was going on, I decided to drop an email to see if he wanted the official waiver form since he said he would write a draft up first (it was more an excuse to see what was going on). boy am I glad I did. He said he got busy and forgot and would get on it. Pretty annoying but can't do anything about it.

How quickly they forget what it was like when they needed the letter.
