Hi all,

I'm planning to apply to Keck medical school and read on the AMCAS that they only accept 3 letters of recommendation. My UG institution offers a letter packet option where they submit a single pdf with all letters. I have 5 letters of recommendations in my letter packet. What do I do so that USC only receives 3 letters of recommendation?

If it's a packet, you'll be fine. They'll probably only read 3 of them though.

So is this generally how it works? I have the same issue. I just don't want my whole app to be disregarded because I didn't follow simple instructions...e.g. Some schools when/before adding them on AMCAS explicitly state to submit only 3 letters. So far I've held off added those schools for this reason. I have a 5 letter packet.

Committee letters (or packets) are always accepted as sufficient and not excessive. Restrictions on the total number of letters is intended to reduce the number of individual letters not associated with a committee letter.
