I'm actually not sure that thank-you presents are appropriate for LORs. This is part of their job as professors. I totally understand wanting to give a gift as a token of appreciation (I buy thank-you gifts for everything), but these letters are based on merit. For profs to accept presents for LORs may reflect poorly on them. I say stick with thank-you notes.

so people generally give gifts depending on how small their school is/ how close of a relationship they have to their professors??
