Hey guys,

So I am thinking of who to choose for my letter of recs. I have three in mind so far, my D1 college soccer coach, the founder of an international non-profit I have done mission trips for the past two years, and one of my professors who I will hopefully be doing research with this summer. I know that most schools recommend two science professors, but I'm not too sure if that is a requirement or just recommended. Also, the professor I'm hoping to do research with taught my biochem class and the founder of the international non-profit also taught a class I took. Should I ask them to incorporate how I did in those classes, as well as, my ability to do reasearch/work with the non-profit, or ask for two letters of rec from them? (I don't even know if you're allowed to ask for two letter of recs from the same person.) Any info would be great.

Thanks!

Required by most, strongly recommended by all (a few exceptions notwithstanding.) In general, in this profession it's better not to buck the system.

It really depends on where you apply also. Some schools will only take 2-3 letters while others will take 10. If you could get 2 science, 1 non science professor in addition to those, you'd be in good shape if they are good letters.
