hello, how are these for the LORs
1)advanced cell bio professor

2)evolution / research professor

3)tropical ecology from a semester abroad professor

4)now this one would be a dentist but here is my question. I just started shadowing a dentist so I don't know him that well yet. I have a friend that is an oral surgeon that volunteers in Africa and Egypt. Should I just have the friend write it for me as a character reference for me since he knows me the best. Obv he can't say I shadowed or worked for him since I never been to Egypt or Africa lol

They'll just throw out character references. If you haven't shadowed the dentist, his letter is effectively useless because it would be considered biased. What would they even write about you? Try as hard as you can to develop your relationship with the dentist you don't know that well. Ask good questions, be kind to everyone around you, and ask him if he feels comfortable with writing a LOR when you're finished or close to finished with shadowing him. He'll probably be up for it as long as you're relatively qualified and a nice person. If he declines, find a plan B. Preferably not someone you've never shadowed. I know most schools ask for LORs from dentists that you've specifically interacted with in a clinical setting- I don't think the other letter from the oral surgeon would even work, honestly.
