Sorry if this has come up in past threads, but exactly when do we send out LOR's to schools? I imagine this process is only done when you receive secondaries from the schools that are interested, right? Do you send LOR's to AACOMAS, no right? Sorry to be a pain but I am wondering. Thanks.

i was and still am somewhat confused by this. you don't send letters to aacomas; they need to go directly to the schools. there was a post earlier that said something about waiting for secondaries, but i don't know.

Here's what I understand:

Wait for secondaries. Then send the LORs directly to the schools or to a service that keeps them of file for you, such as Interfolio, then have them send the LORs directly to the schools.

While many schools have committees for transcripts I asked several science profs to do them for me - to make them more personal, and they agreed. I also arranged with some DOs. I asked them well in advance, telling them when to expect me to ask them to send it.

You do not have to wait until you have a secondary to submit your letters of recommendation. If the school gets it early, they'll put it in your file until they need it or, if they don't want a secondary from you, they'll throw it away.

Having your letters in means you are not waiting for them later on. I say be proactive and get them in now.
