LOR question

ok, schools don't like LORs from co-workers.

but im doin research with this doctor from china (MD). she's not a postdoc or research associate or anything. but she's not the PI of the lab.

however, i have worked very closely w/ her.

so do i ask the PI fo the lab or her to write me the LOR?

I'd say ask her if she has quite a bit of experience and isn't within your age/peer group. I imagine the caution against co-workers is because those that are in your same position may not have as valid of an opinion to evaluate you because of lack of experience.

yea, she's def. not in my age group and has been a doctor (practicing in China b4 coming to the US to research) for 10-15 years.

anymore advice would be appreciated.

I'd say it's always better to have the PI. Perhaps that person could write the letter FOR the PI, and the PI could sign their name at the bottom.
