hi everyone. i am presently in the process of requesting letters of recommendation. i have already asked my postdoctoral lab supervisor to write me one and she agreed. my problem is that she is a native spanish speaker and can barely speak in english much less write in it. do you think it is okay to send in a lor that is in spanish??? i would very much like to include her as one of my lor's since we have worked and communicated effectively for the past couple years despite our language differences.

no. either tactfully offer to help her with it or suggest a third party to proofread.

you should have her write it in english, definitely. i think having her ask someone to proofread it is a good idea.

Better yet, have her write it in Spanish and have it translated.
