Sorry if this has been asked. I've hunted and can't find an answer on here.

The letters I had sent to AADSAS and that are getting sent out to the schools are from two biology professors and two dentists that I work for. But WVU wants a letter from a bio prof, a chem prof, and a physics prof -- I called and couldn't get an answer from any of the THREE different people I was transferred between (before getting transferred to the dental hygiene voicemail box! lol) regarding whether or not this is NECESSARY or if my letters will be acceptable. I took chem 4 years ago, so I know my gen chem profs don't remember me, and my orgo prof no longer works at my school and the secretaries weren't able to provide me with current contact info for him. I could probably get one from my physics prof if I really need to. I am considering just withdrawing my application from WVU and saving the extra $50 since I've applied to 14 other schools, WVU wasn't really a top choice of mine anyway. Any input is appreciated 🙂

..anybody? Related experience with a different school, even?

Thanks 🙂

You should contact the school and ask.

I initially had 1 Bio, 1 Biochem (research), 1 non-science, 1 dental.
Admissions officer at Columbia told me that it's not mandatory to turn in all three science letters. But, Michigan adcom said that I needed to send out one more letter by science 'instructor.' So, I got another one for Michigan and USC.

I'm going to try emailing them because twice now I've called and gotten transferred around to different people who couldn't answer my question. I'm hoping it won't be necessary to hunt down my chem profs, lol. Thanks 🙂

I am just posting this as a follow-up in case it can help anybody else. I finally got a response from WVU and it was that it is a STRICT REQUIREMENT to have a physics, chem, and bio professor write you letters. I have since emailed my physics professor (had the same one for 1 and 2), and he hasn't gotten back to me. My gen chem 1 and orgo prof (same one for 1 and 2) both no longer work at my college; my gen chem 2 prof has not yet emailed me back. I haven't had a chance to go to the school (I graduated, work full time) and try to hunt them down in person yet but it seems like I'm going to have to. Getting these absolutely required letters is proving to be tough.

yea i feel you. i applied to wvu without going over their LOR requirement. I emailed the adcom about it and she gave back a snappy response. i mean, how friendly do they expect us to be with our physics professor?

whatever. they will miss me when it's too late

I did this the first time I appied. I didn't look at all the requirements the schools wanted.

For the future applicants: look up requirements before sending out apps so you can be as prepared as possible
